KENKEN® puzzle

Invented by Japanese math teacher, Tetsuya Miyamoto, KENKEN® allows you to test your puzzle acumen and improve your math skills at the same time.

Tetsuya Miyamoto is founder of Japan’s most successful math program for elementary school children. KenKen® (“wisdom squared”) is originally “Kashikoku naru puzzle” in Japanese(賢くなるパズル), meaning “Puzzles to make you smarter”.  The puzzles are featured daily in over 200 newspapers worldwide including the New York Times, LA Times, and The Times (UK).

Fill the grid with numbers 1 to 4 so as not to repeat a digit in every row or column. The small digits in the corner (also called “target number”) within each heavily outlined group of squares (also called “cage”) indicate the sum of the numbers in that group. Enjoy!
